can raw diet lead to these problems?

I adopted a 2 year old golden retriever+cocker spaniel mix from a shelter around 20 days back. the shelter owner informed me that he fed the dog raw meat. for 1 week initially, i fed my dog canned food+kibbles with a little rice n mashed vegies etc. In the meanwhile i read about the raw diet, convinced my family and put my dog on that again. i currently am feeding him raw chicken backs/drumsticks/neck/breasts and lamb necks..each on diff days.. he is scratching himself a lot, has very little poop which is also v loose and looks tired and sleeps all day. i have noticed these changes after changing the diet. i was giving him yogurt with the food till a day back, but then i read that too much yogurt can cause loose stools. so i have stopped it now. i also add apple cider (1tsp) to his food. i feed him once a day. please help me. is this detox (cause of raw diet change) or something else. vijay sir, u had earlier told me in the other thread that the itching may be due to the tick prob he initially had. i am getting my house sprayed this weekend. i have noticed that he has scratched himself a lot in one ear. the inside if the ear has blood blots (dried up). he doesnt hav ear mites as i had got it examined. pelase help. my vet is advisign me against the raw diet, but afetr readin a lot abt it, i m convinced that i want to continue with it. also coz he is used to eating it. the meat is from the best store in town, so there is no fear of contamination coz its human grade.
thank you so much…i really dont want to go off raw food as this is what he is used to, also as per my research its the best/natural food for them and he hardly ate when i tried feeding him kibbles.

RAW diet is a very good diet for a dog..as long as you follow all directions and if it has only been a short time of the transfer from kibble it might just be that, and yes too much yogurt will cause loose stools, try and give some cooked rice and meat(chicken or hamburgerr) which should help the stools stiffen..
the ear problem might be yeast in the ears..it is a very common trait in cocker spaniel…use a cotton ball and some alcohol and wipe the ear out as often as needed…as even with the skin, i would look at some good shampoo for him, go to ebay and they sell very good shampoo for them skin problems..yeast is very very common and so is dry skin..
Also ad some veggiess and fruits to his feedings, and some brewerss yeast pills might also help his skin..you can also get some hearing fish oils which is really good for dry skin..

How much can I lose on a Raw Food Diet ?

Im 14 years old I weigh 153 pounds and I’m 5’6.

I wan to go on a raw food diet ( RAW FRUITS AND VEGGIES ! for those who don’t understand) how much do you think i can lose in 1 month and 2 weeks ?

If you went on the diet how much did you lose and in what span of time?
Noo , the Raw Food dieat DOES NOT included raw meat . It has no meat at all !
Like WOW , dumb much ?

HI! OK 1st of all U do not eat RAW MEAT on this diet, the person that wrote that obviously doesn’t know what there talking about! Anyway, I was going to do the raw food diet this summer & i really did my research for about 2 months. What I suggest to you is to maybe buy some books on amazon (they have a bunch of great books there & a lot for beginners) online (there cheap like 3, 4$) & read up about it. And what really helped me was YOUTUBE. Just type in "LovingRaw" in the search engine and a guy names Philip will come up, very sweet guy and he lost over, i beleive it was 130lbs in a year on raw food diet. Ask him some questions he will defintely help you. There was also this other man that lost 100lbs in 6 months by going raw. So to answer your question, yes I believe it does work & there are so many recipes that you will never get bored! & there easy! I personally ended up not doing & did this other diet. But i was actually thinking about trying it out again. Well GOOD LUCK!!! & defintely search Loving Raw on you tube!!!

I want to start eating raw foods (meats and veggies), any suggestions?

I don’t want to get sick, but I want to go on a neolithic diet. Any advice were to get safe meat and organs or any tips? Benefits to encourage me? Thanx!

Eating raw meat isn’t going to give you diseases or a hospital bill if you do it properly. For example, don’t go and get a thick steak out of the fridge and slap it on your plate ready to eat…

Carpaccio is the term used to very thinly sliced meat (and season) and serve chilled to eat. This can be done with beef, vension, salmon and tuna. I personally wouldn’t eat it all the time but as long as you do it safely (like eat it chilled) you should be fine.

Basically, any type of vegetable can be eaten raw.. its just depends on what your tastebuds can handle!

Just remember that when it comes to poultry, it is essential it is cooked and cooked through properly! Eating raw chicken will lead to sickness for sure!

Also, just remember that it is not the cooking of your meats and veggies that is unhealthy, its what you cook them IN and your portion size. Grilling, boiling or steaming doesn’t add any extra fat to what you are cooking but it sure can make it a lot tastier!

Goodluck with your diet!

Does anyone know of a good cleanse/detox/diet (for health purposes, not necessarily to lose weight)?

Hi,
I have done the master cleanse (lemonade diet) twice before, and I’d like to do some sort of detoxification type regimen again, but I’d prefer it to be something where I actually eat a little. Like all raw foods, or just something very specific and simple that will have me eating small portions of the best foods to assist in cleansing my system. If anyone knows the name of any kind of cleanses of this nature, please tell me and pass along any details. Also, if you know any websites or books that detail something like that I’d be really interested. What I DON’T want to do is buy some whole system from a company that is going to cost me hundreds of dollars. That’s all I seem to have been able to find so far. Thanks for any help or tips!

for detoxifictaion : i eat an apple or a banana and drink any hot liquid..but it’s effective if you” pair it with hot milk….

Where can I find a raw food diet plan?

Preferably made by a real nutritionist, with recipes, no more than 1200 calories, and low glycemic. I read a book extolling the virtues of this kind of diet, but it didn’t have a daily menu. It’s very hard to get started on such an unusual diet without a menu and recipes.
The most important thing to me is that the diet was designed by a nutrition professional. There are too many diets out there made by doctors with phds that have nothing to do with nutrition. Also, raw food diets are plagued by spiritual "gurus" who often don’t have any appropriate education in nutrition at all.

Hi, this site may be helpful…there is a lot of info. plus recipes!

Can somebody tell me the best raw foods company out there?

I am looking for more than just bars. I get the science behind it, but don’t have the time.

Seriously, yet a little daffiness, Your garden.

Whats okay in a cleanse/detox diet? Birth control? Vitamin? Pot?

am cutting out processed food, cow-dairy, salt, sugar, wheat, preservatives, etc.

Im loading up on fish, fresh fruits and veggies, raw unsalted nuts and grains, water, fiber, garlic, cayanne, lemon, etc.

I have been taking birth control pills and multivitimins daily for nearly 10 years. Im not having sex right now, so should I discontinue my use?

What about smoking pot? Does this effect my bodys ability to cleanse itself?

I am taking a full body cleanse kit (fiber, lax, and milk thistle).

I don’t know about the cleanse, but I stopped taking birth control 5 months ago, and I feel alot better not as moody/bitchy/hormonal.

doctor prescribed 800-1000 calorie diet?

I am 20Ibs overweight and exercise intensely everyday for 2 or more hours a day (cycling, running, weight training, walking, mowing, etc). I even burn 1000-1500 calories a day for each intense activity. I eat pretty healthy most of the time but my weight just fluctuates further up, never dropping. I had my gallbladder taken out and my system has never been the same. I talked with two different doctors and both state that I should go on an 800 calorie diet. The doctors both even told me that women sometimes have to go on such a restrictive diet to see weight loss and that we are built for survival so it would be ok for awhile but sometimes I should switch it up. Has anyone ever been on an 800 calorie diet because a doctor recommended it? I have tried several different diets and none have helped. I even tried eating raw and eating the typical 1500 calories a day of healthy food and nothing has changed. My body is just not responsive. I would like a response from someone that did this diet

800 calories? Are they out of their freaking mind!?
You definitely need more food than that, you’re going to starve yourself!
It’s fine if you’re overweight, and it’s great that you are very active..but if you really burn that much a day you won’t have any energy left if you eat only 800 calories a day.
The answer is to eat normally, ESPECIALLY since you are already eating healthy enough.
Eat what you want, but I need to know one thing.
How long have you been working out, eating healthy? When exactly was your gall bladder taken out>?
This should definitely take time.
Are you at least feeling the burn when weight training–feeling sore after the first day? If you are, then your body is responding. If not, then I’d say you’re used to the weight and walking.
And what do you mean by eating raw? Like raw food?

Sorry if my answer didn’t help since I haven’t been prescribed by this "diet" D:
But that is just wack.
An 800 calories diet isn’t the way to go, no matter what your doctor says. Think about it. That’s insanely unhealthy! Talk to him/her about it. Even if you were told by two different doctors. It’s illogical enough to disbelieve.
I think you should stick with your current lifestyle–it’s very healthy as it is! Don’t worry if your body isn’t so responsive yet–you will definitely see change if you keep it up! :)
