Raw Food Weight Loss Tips

It is true that a raw food weight loss diet, in general is one of the most effective ways to lose weight fast and for quick weight loss. However, there are a few myths and misconceptions I have run into regarding this subject. Here is one raw food weight loss misconception – As long as it is not cooked on a fire it is raw and therefore I can eat it and should expect weight loss. This is a bit incomplete. A soaked almond is technically a raw food. All the enzymes are activated by soaking it and it is live again. But it contains a low level of moisture. A tomato, cucumber or a head of lettuce for example, is raw but they contain a very high level of moisture. So raw food weight loss will occur based mainly on the moisture content of the food itself. Some people I have met who want to convert to raw food for weight loss, eat the foods that are so close to being cooked, it defeats the purpose. Another raw food weight loss misconception is eating raw foods with high sugar content. All sugar or foods that quickly converts to sugar will cause insulin to spike and if glucose in not used up, the insulin will convert this glucose to body fat. Another, aspect of this is when people juice. I meet people who begin juicing but they juice the sweetest foods! I have looked at people’s before and after diet diaries. And I found they consumed more sugar after juicing than before. Fruits like strawberries, guava, watermelon, orange and apple are used. These are the highest sugar content foods. Without changing their level or exertion, they will still be subject to the effects of insulin. Another misconception is that the only way to have raw food weight loss is to be completely raw. This is understandable but it is false. Dietary protein causes an increase in human growth hormone. Human growth hormone is a fat burning hormone and a very powerful one. You just don’t want to consume a lot of dense protein at one time because there will still be an insulin surge. A big salad of high moisture raw foods with some dense protein is a weight loss meal. There are some health imbalances that need this type of diet to lose weight. For example, if there is adrenal fatigue or excess cortisol, not eating dense protein can be counter-productive to weight loss. Raw foods are good for your health and the more you consume of it, the healthier your cells will be and when your body is healthy, it can lose weight. A healthy body can lose weight, and unhealthy body cannot lose weight. The last misconception I want to go over is that raw food is the sole cause for weight loss for those that have lost weight when using weight loss. I can tell you from the numerous clients I have had, that there are people that became raw foodists and still do not lose weight or are still overweight. For some, their goal is not weight loss, so they consume raw foods but still do other things that prevent weight loss. Things like not sleeping enough, going for long times of hunger, consuming high sugar raw foods all contribute to weight gain.  Also, there are health imbalances like subclinical hypothyroidism or adrenal fatigue, where raw foods weight loss will not be enough. Also if adrenals are weak and a woman is going through menopause, she is very likely to gain weight in the midsection. Her adrenal glands are being worked harder to produce the hormones that used to be produced by her ovaries. Diet, exercise and lifestyle should be aligned enough to cause the body to start permanently using body fat for energy. The best thing someone can do to use raw food weight loss, is to have an experienced coach outline a step-by-step program for them so it is a smooth transition where they are winning all the way through on all levels. Not just weight loss. It should be enjoyable and enhance your life mentally, emotionally as well as physically. Every week you should feel you are at a new level of ability and a new level of health.

Healthy Fats and Dieting

An essential but often overlooked part of any nutritional diet or weight loss program is consuming a sufficient quantity of healthy fats.

Fats have incorrectly been given a bad name and have been wrongly viewed as something to avoid.

There are unhealthy fats which can cause weight gain and health problems when consumed in excess. On the other side of the coin, there are healthy and essential fats which are necessary in the body and which actually assist in weight loss efforts.

This article is not an official medical document and does not serve to give specific instructions on how much of which types of fats should be consumed by whom, or under which circumstances, etc.

It only serves to raise awareness on the existence and importance of healthy and essential fats, and what some of them are.

“Good fats” contain essential fatty acids.

Essential fatty acids are the fats which are needed in the body, but which the human body can not synthesize. In other words, the body can not make these fats by itself. It can not use components from other foods to create these fats. It has to obtain them directly from food.

They are called:

  • Linoleic Acid
  • Arachidonic Acid
  • Linolenic Acid

But don’t worry if these seem like big confusing words. They are just the scientific names of the three essential fatty acids.

Principle sources of essential fatty acids include the following:

Natural vegetable oils, corn oil, soybean oil, and cottonseed oil (containing 35%-70% essential fatty acids) Safflower oil (containing 85%-90%).

One can also get essential fatty acids from other substances in smaller amounts. Some of these foods are not the healthiest though. These include:

  • Animal Fats
  • Cream
  • Butter
  • Fish-liver Oils
  • Egg Yolk
  • Natural Lard (the richest animal source, containing 5% – 11%)
  • Avocados
  • Almonds
  • Olive Oil

Now lets look at the difference between essential fatty acids and that fat that accumulates in our bodies when we eat more sugar or starch than the body can immediately use.

Since the body can not create these essential fats, which we need for our health, that also means that the an over-abundance of body fat will not replace our need for them.

Therefore it is incorrect to consider that one “does not need to eat anything with fat” just because one is overweight.

On the contrary, a lack of essential fatty acids can contribute to weight gain!

Eating too little of these healthy fats is possibly one of the principle causes of weight gain. The following are a few of the reasons for this:

  1. When the body contains an insufficient quantity of essential fatty acids, it changes sugar into fat much more quickly than it normally would. This fast change of sugar to fat also causes the blood sugar to go down fast, which can lead to cravings for more food, overeating, and hence weight gain.
  2. Fats are satisfy hunger better than other foods do. You might avoid a hundred calories of fat in a meal, but as a result become so hungry that you wind up consuming an extra five hundred calories of other foods (such as sugars and starches), in order to satisfy your hunger. And thus you would gain more weight than you would have, if you had eaten those essential healthy fats.
  3. Many overweight person simply have an excess of water in their bodies. Adding adequate healthy fats to their diets (such as in salad dressings) has caused them to lose pounds.

There is quite a lot more that could be said about healthy fats and essential fatty acids. But this gives a basic summary. As a general rule, try to eat these fats in as raw and unadulterated (unprocessed) form as possible. Fats can be harmed and made very unhealthy when they are heated and processed. I would suggest making home made salad dressings with raw oils, and/or adding raw nuts and seeds to one’s salad, and then eating salad as frequently as possible. This encourages you to eat more vegetables as well. Salads can be varied in thousands of ways, and they can become gourmet works of art in themselves, while retaining their health value.

So a great dieting rule of thumb would be to use salads liberally, and don’t forget to put some healthy fats in your dressing!

Still Dreading a Raw Food Diet Detox

This past Thursday, I talked about the dreaded diet detox and how the length and detoxification symptoms from eliminating cooked foods and beginning a raw food diet are really not so scary.

You should expect a headache or two, some achy joints, and low energy for a few days.

That’s really it!

With that said, I do realize that there are some people – like those coming from cases of chronic disease or who consume severely nutrient-deficient and toxic foods (i.e. fast food) – who are worried about experiencing a more severe detox.

As I mentioned last time, the more toxic load you regularly place on your body, the more long-lasting and uncomfortable your detox symptoms will be when you reduce the load and go raw.

But no worries!  There is a way – a super simple way, of course – to adopt a healthy raw food diet without fear of yucky detox symptoms.

Transition Slowly

Adopting a raw food diet does not mean that you have to go 100% raw right away.

In fact, this usually is not the best plan.  It is much easier and much less stressful on your physiology and psyche to gradually replace the cooked foods you already eat with tasty raw fruits and veggies.

And you can do this at whatever pace you want!

For instance, an easy way to get started is simply by replacing your breakfast meal with fruit.  Eat as much fruit as you want so that you are satiated for 3-5 hours after eating.  This is completely doable for most people because

a) most people do not experience cravings until later in the day

b) most people do not eat breakfast anyway

So this is a plus for most people because they now get to start their day with a healthy and delicious meal!

And, of course, there’s more than one way to transition.

There’s the 75% raw method (sweet fruit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ending with a cooked dish).  There’s the “as much fruit as you want before each meal” method.

There’s also Tonya Kay’s No-Willpower Approach to transitioning to raw.

She’s such a cutie! :)

By transitioning to a raw food diet slowly, your body will gradually be able to release waste and adjust to the lower toxicity level.  This way, you will bypass most or even all of the detox symptoms.

Want to Up the Ante?

For those of you brave souls wanting to blast through your detox as quickly as possible, there’s no better option than fasting.  A short 1-2 day fast (that means nothing but water and lots of rest) followed by completely clean eating will allow the body the opportunity it needs for some serious repair work.

I only recommend a short fast of no more than 2 days (which is not technically a fast) because long-term fasting requires extensive knowledge, experience, and often outside care.  If you are interested in a long-term fast, be sure to check out Dr. Graham’s Costa Rica Fasting Retreat.

Raw food diet weight loss – revealing all the myths

The raw food diet weight loss technique is a fairly established way to lose weight and eat healthy. However there are some disadvantages of this type of raw food diet that may outweigh the potential advantages that they can have. In this article I will reveal all the myths and tell you whether “going RAW” is worth the while once and for all.

The raw food diet weight loss program works by eating uncooked, highly nutritious foods – fruits and vegetables.

As these foods are low in calories and very good for your body’s nutritional system it is believed that eating them raw or uncooked is a more fuller way to enjoy each food and brings out more of the “goodness” that may be lost by cooking them. Another interesting fact that most people don’t know is that raw food contains alkaline chemicals which once consumed balances a mainly acidic body. This over time will break down much more fatty deposits then if uncooked foods weren’t eaten.

Advantages of Raw Food Diet Weight Loss.

  • Through an increased enzyme production in your body your metabolism is accelerated naturally.
  • Due to the rich fibre content you feel fuller for longer.
  • Your energy levels are greatly increased from the natural vitamins and minerals.
  • You are better hydrated which helps the fat-burning processes in your body.
  • You can place less emphasis on measuring your calories intake with this type of diet.

Disadvantages Raw Food Diet Weight Loss

  • Raw fruits and vegetables lack in protein and calcium.
  • Buying fruits and vegetables in your local supermarket puts you at risk to unwanted pesticides. Therefore consuming only organic raw food would be in your best health interest.
  • Supplements may need to be taken to make up for lost nutrients.
  • Proteins from plants don’t have similar amino acids to those of animals which means that you’ll have to consume a variety of raw foods in order to remain healthy.
  • This type of raw food diet is not recommended for some people suffering from health issues, children and women who are pregnant due to the lack of protein.
  • Lastly in the “hustle and bustle” of today’s fast paced life preparing all your raw food for the day may take up time which you may not have.

The truth is this: the raw food diet weight loss program is a proven system to help your body to get back into a more natural and balanced state. This type of food is proven to assist weight loss and rid the body of fatty acids and unwanted chemicals trapped in your system. Even taking into account the disadvantages it seems as if the benefits for your body and your weight lose campaign makes this weight loss program a definite winner.

Advanced Psychic Development Training Tips

n

Read every psychic book you can get your hands on. This will not necessarily teach you how to develop your psychic gifts but will open your mind to the possibility of powers you as yet have not even been aware of as possible. When your mind can conceive a possibility it is much more open to developing these psychic powers.

Hands on healing is another area you should look closely at. I have never met a successful psychic medium who does not have the ability to tune in to pain and heal. Healing is an essential part of improving your psychic ability. Healing develops in stages, first you sense the pain through your hands, you may feel excessive heat, cold or a vibration around the area that is in pain.

As you develop this sensitivity you will start to sense it from across the room, not so much as a sensation but more like a strong belief that you know that that person has pain in specific areas and you will progress to the point you know why they have that pain.

Through time you will be able to do it remotely over the telephone and be able to assist reducing their pain. How does this actually work? The honest answer is I am not really sure; it could be a form of energy exchange, hypnosis or an activation of belief in the listener, however the why is less important that the result.

Another essential skill you must practice is meditation. Meditation is quite simply a way of stilling your mind and slowing down your brainwaves. Focus on breathing in for 5 seconds and holding it for 5 seconds then back out for 5 seconds, this will slow your heart rate and still your mind. Initially your mind will wander however just refocus on the sound of your breath and the beat of your heart, with practice it will come.

Psychic mediumship is an altered state of consciousness, so meditation and healing will help you open that door activating and enhancing your psychic development.

Lastly seek out mentors; some mentors will be for your psychic development training other may be to allow you to delegate the tasks that you feel are not your strengths. It may be marketing, accounting or managing your business, however the secret is to build a team around you so you can focus on doing what you do best.
