These restorative “live” foods can reverse chronic disease and bring back health and vitality. This eclectic cookbook shares 250 delicious vegetarian recipes from chefs of the Tree of Life Café. I normally do not write reviews at all, but this book certainly deserves. The highlights: *
is not formed by all these sweet recipes, but has great tasting alternatives (never could get into all those sweet things), no dates, bananas, etc, and there are some good explanations of why * MedlinePlus The recipes do not require a lot of strange ingredients of which I have never heard before, the ingredients are readily available * MedlinePlus You do not have to plan days ahead of time to produce a single plate, many of them can be put together MedlinePlus quickly * It has its share of nuts, but for some reason does not bother me here as I did in most of my other books, but that does not seem to be everywhere MedlinePlus * No wheat recipes (yes!) I am terribly allergic to it. . . Instead there are plenty of recipes with flax seeds, and there is a very good explanation of why the wheat grains are not used.
asked two other books while I present one and I already had two books on raw foods, but this is the only one I use. The recipes appeal to me much more than those of the other books. Still there are tools that are needed for cooking raw foods, such as a dehydrator, juicer, mixer speed, etc. but there is a section on the principle that summarizes what they recommend.

I received my copy hot off the press just days ago and it is quite clear that Gabriel and the Tree of Life chefs have given us the best book live foods currently available. The few recipes I tried are exceptional, and I am having a difficult time deciding which to use the next attempt, as they all interest me.
Perhaps the best thing about this book are Gabriel live updates on food nutrition. Although often cited Mindful Eating for a deeper discussion of many topics, Gabriel also extends previous theoretical vision tests with the new, exciting first published. His extensive discussion of the fungal infection and the concept of a compound button vis-a-vis the body’s metabolism are particularly intriguing. For example, Gabriel cites the brilliant work of Dr. Robert Young (see the book, Sick and Tired?) As support for the fact that high-glycemic foods, including many of our favorite fruits (eg dates, mangos, bananas, etc.), creating favorable biological conditions for the proliferation in the blood of bacteria, yeasts, fungi, mold and other nasties whose main function is to compost the dead matter. As we continue eating foods that affect the vitality of our inner biological terrain, our button compost remains “on” position and the agencies that endanger our health to continue operating disgusting. Gabriel provides living evidence of this process of degeneration, presenting a series of color photographs that clearly show through dark field microscopy, the breakdown of red blood cells and bacteria, yeast, fungi and molds. Only by changing our button “compost” to “off” through the kitchen rainbow green live food can transform our biological terrain and reverse the process of fungal infections. Gabriel
outlines how rainbow green live food cuisine in particular, and not only raw and living food itself, facilitates the transition to a terrain-friendly fungal biological and optimum health. He identifies three phases, starting with foods of low glycemic index, we can continue in this process. More importantly, the authors designate each recipe according to which phase it supports, which means we know exactly what recipes we can go depends on where we are in the process of transition. And, Gabriel describes how he, and everyone at the Tree of Life, live foods altered their diets to begin Phase I and the transition through Phase I. 5 to Phase II, which is the permanent maintenance diet. In half of the process, Gabriel and his staff have experienced more energy and feelings of well being experienced in their previous diets live food. In other words, the kitchen rainbow green live food is not only “live” food “but a specific approach, unique to the live food preparation and eating.
Finally, of particular importance for the direct movement of food is the presentation of evidence to support that growing Excalibur dehydrators require higher temperature settings (eg 145 degrees) during the initial stages of dehydration and then be adjusted down to normal temperatures (eg 95-115 degrees) live food preparation used previously from beginning to end. The authors note that further research on this issue is currently underway as part of the Masters in Vegan Live-Food Nutrition (see Tree of Life site for more information about this program.) However, the recipes in the book reflect this new research, as adherents to the live food preparation should not be confused by the directions on your prescription by calling the high initial temperatures (in other words, read the introductory chapters !).
In short, an impressive book that is accessible and very informative and a must have for both live long-foods advocates and those interested in the possibilities of using live foods to improve their health and how optimal wellness. Hooray for Gabriel and all those who contributed to this beautiful book, insightful! Thanks!

Theories and practices of Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine miss the mark.
Like many, I have health problems. I visited the Tree of Life, a wonderful and beautiful, and I saw Dr. Cousens. I followed your suggestions, which included fresh fruit free diet (phase I RGLC) and many expensive supplements. I followed the diet for over a year – in the strict sense.
At first I felt fine. But after a while it became obvious that the program did not work: I felt weak, was out of focus, and had great food desires heavy, fatty. (And I’ve been at a premium high / all raw diet for many years, so it was not only detoxification.) This program simply does not provide the necessary energy to operate, leading to high food cravings density, and most of the calories consumed * * far from fat. This is very healthy! Most world health experts recommend that less than 10-15% of calories from fat. While I have not checked the actual amounts in any of the recipes, it is evident that all or most of them far exceed those guidelines. I gained weight and thrive as a person who eats a healthy diet should be raw. The diet recommended by this book is unsustainable.
Many of the recipes that taste good book, but again, are extremely high in fat.
As for the “science” presented here, the wrong conclusions appear to have been drawn. Many of those whose blood was tested by Dr. Cousens may have been the people who were not eating a healthy diet of raw foods at the time, but the quality of the diets of the subjects never shared with the reader. Was it considered? A typical diet of cooked food is extremely acid is formed in the body and creates the ideal breeding ground for yeast, fungal infections and fungal infections, as described by Dr. Cousens. If someone is eating this type of diet, then it is true that the addition of high-glycemic foods of any kind can be a bad idea.
Dr. Cousens states that an acidic diet , junk food, dried fruit, high glycemic foods, and low levels of oxygen in the body contribute to this fungal infection, or “domestic composting,” as he calls it. Most lists what * is * unhealthy, but some of the fruits which he regards as “high glycemic” foods are very healthy and valuable.
Even Dr. Cousens if subjects’ blood tests were eating a raw diet as raw food diets contain more fat too, it is likely that all subjects, whether eating a cooked or raw food diet had pre-existing conditions of candida and fungal overgrowth. The blood fat prevents insulin effectively transport sugar into cells, naturally-present (in small quantities in the healthy person) candida feeds sugar in the blood to prevent prolonged high blood sugar levels, and blooming.
Dr. Cousens is considered the lifestyles of people whose blood is tested ? It is not clear. It is also true that cancer cells grow in the sugar solution. Most cells do! But the fruit is not to avoid the answer. How is healthy.
They are designed to run on simple sugars like those found in fruit, not the vegetable fat diet advocated in this book. A healthy diet is mostly fruit, enough vegetables, but little fat allows your body to get rid of candida overgrowth very quickly. It also provides sufficient nutrients and energy for the individual is healthy and vibrant. I started to get well, living this way, and I know now I’m on track to heal. But it is a simple, no one who is leaning toward the complex recipes and dietary supplements.
If you are interested in seeking health and a program of healthy eating, please try a low fat diet is a vegan raw fruit, but also contains large quantities of vegetables and green vegetables with low fat, as recommended by Dr. Douglas Graham. See also “The Raw Secrets” by Frederic Patenaude.
I truly believe that Dr. Cousens is a kind man who wants to help others. But I can not recommend this book.
Please be cautious.

Gabriel Cousens believe to be the most sustainable among the proselytizing of live food and raw food nutrition. I say proselytizing not necessarily as a pejorative, but to describe that Cousens advances a particular program as a believer to convert others. All authors of diet books do this, of course, so this book, like any other, should be approached with healthy skepticism. Some of the science in the early chapters may seem corny, but I think the general principles that form the diet Cousens “are quite reasonable. For example, he is very aware of the dangers of a high glycemic diet, so your recipes not contain many fruits (bananas, mangos, etc) and dates, the latter a food that is abused in many books on raw food recipe. sweeteners are also very limited and not widely used agave nectar, an ingredient used in almost everything for some rawfoodists. This is a recipe book that is meaningful and that most healthy, raw foods or not. It is also perfect for those who suffer from fungal growth.
< br /> All that said, the book is not without problems. Because while Cousens wishes to adopt a strict vegetarian diet and be aware of the individuals have different dietary needs (metabolic typing / Ayurveda), you have to do some strange contortions. types of proteins, according to him, you can get all the protein they need from nuts and seeds, but not seriously consider the possibility that these sources of protein is high in fat, so the percentage distribution of macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats, proteins) to those guys do not just add. And desire to quickly distance from Ayurveda use of meat for some people and not monomaniacally insists that a raw vegan diet is feasible if it is not ideal for everyone. It’s fine if Cousens advocates a vegetarian diet for ethical reasons, but to prescribe such a diet for all people as a support optimal health seems unbearable, and even his own reasoning, and perhaps irresponsible. The most Cousens makes complete veganism and livefoodism in the new edition of spiritual nourishment is not much to dispel this issue and others.
now live foodism clearly has much going for it as well I say this as someone who is not at all hostile to many of its precepts. And Cousens recipes are generally easy to prepare (although you need a dryer, high speed blender, homogenizing juicer and food processor to maximize ) indredients easy use available, healthy and often delicious. There are some problems with the recipes, however, that more careful examination would have been correct. Very often the quantities of some ingredients, like salt and oils are far (indicated tablespoons instead of teaspoons, etc..) I did a lot of the recipes in this book and proceed with caution and recommended not to immediately add the amounts of all oils, salt and spices and let common sense indicates taste be your guide. If you do this and use the recipes as a starting point, it will have, good results – at least that has been my experience.
Another problem with this book lies in its design. Shortly after I received the book, the pages began to come loose from the spine. More than a year later nearly half the pages are detached – rather a nuisance. And I have tried in this book and to treat all my books, very carefully. I have heard similar reports from other owners of this book, so this can not be an isolated problem. If after getting it is discovered that the pages are secure, return it for another before Amazon return period expires. (I emailed the editor over a month ago about this problem, but not yet to hear back from them.)
Overall, this is a book that I very much recommend to rawfoodists, dilettantes, and only those interested in eating healthier and are open to trying something new.
