Im Orthodox and in the orthodox church we fast for christmas and easter.
The christmas fast is around 40 days and so is the easter fast
For both fasts we couldent eat meat or dairy.

		<description>fasting is not a good or healthy way for weight loss because when you deprive your body of food you do see weight loss but its because your body is using your muscle as fuel so what your lossing is muscle not fat...eat 5-6 small meals like fruit,vegies, fish... every 3-4 hours thats 3meals and 3 snacks and dont eat 2hours before bed. good luck... and dont fast...&lt;br&gt;&lt;b&gt;References : &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

		<description>Fasting can be good if you can stick to it and not get cranky without real food.  I fasted in the past and lost weight and feel good afterward.  But it was not my intention to fast.  I was in an accident and spent most of the time in bed, and medication from the doctor makes me fall a sleep, and totally lost my appetite.  The weight came back after I eat normal again.  But I was not heavy to start with.  But fasting was a good experience, I didn&#039;t feel bloated or have to deal with food that doesn&#039;t agree with my stomach.&lt;br&gt;&lt;b&gt;References : &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>
