Becoming Raw: The Essential Guide to Raw Vegan Diets

Are You Tuned In To Weight Loss Diets

The first thing to remember is that regular hydration with water, fruit and vegetable juices and fresh fruits are a necessary addition to your daily food pattern. Feeling fit in the course of weight loss diets tells you how well your body is reacting to the changes you have introduced. Salt and sugar are necessary to avoid low blood sugar and low blood pressure. If you face a situation of feeling giddy, immediately add sugar and salt to water and drink it immediately. Lie or sit down for about 15 minutes before you continue your activities. A balanced diet is required for sound body treatment. Be wary of weight loss diets that advise the use of only one food category.

High carbohydrate diet

High carbohydrate diets are a type of weight loss diets recommended for active lifestyles since they quickly metabolise to form glucose and supply energy to the body. The glucose also increases mental alertness. However, a reduction in activity must be done in conjunction with reduced carbohydrate consumption to avoid its conversion into a fat deposit. You must know that there is a downside associated with this diet. There are indications that link high carbohydrate diets with the incidence of pancreatic and breast cancer and diabetes. Another possibility is the heightened risk of heart disease.

High protein diet

High protein diets are a type of weight loss diets recommended for creating sculpted bodies by increasing the body’s ability to build muscle. Carbohydrate consumption is limited and the body starts to burn the energy from the excess fat in the body to create energy. This form of diet has been found to be effective and has led to many followers. But there is a risk associated with this style of eating. The most important is that of kidney damage through the formation of kidney stones and loss of kidney function.  Another is the loss of muscle since over time, the body starts feeding on the very system it is intended to develop in the absence of sufficient carbohydrate content in the food. Another risk is that of acidosis on account of an imbalance of acid and alkali in the body and can lead to a state similar to a diabetic coma which can be fatal.

Low fat diet

The brain is almost completely dependent on the fat available in your food for its healthy functioning. Your brain is almost 66% fat in composition. The neurons that carry messages from your brain to your body and back possess a double layer of fatty acid. The fats in your food are the raw material for the brain for cell membrane preparation. The protective sheath around your neurons is largely made of fat. Almonds, olive oil, nuts and avocados possess fat that is essential for the brain. Babies on human milk get large amount of fat necessary for brain development. So, when you follow weight loss diets that avoid fat consumption, it is time for you to learn about the good and bad types of fat and incorporate the right fatty items in your meals.

Raw Food Diets: Benefits And Risks

raw food diets are nutritious eating patterns popular among those who want to lose weight and those who desire overall well-being. These diets focus on fresh, raw, and natural food while they do away with anything that’s cooked or heated. The reason? Well, according to the followers of these types of eating pattern, much of the nutrients needed by the body are lost during cooking and heating of food above 116 degrees Fahrenheit. And if a person really wants to enjoy good health, the best way is to go raw.

The Benefits of Raw Food Diet

Going raw on food offers a lot of benefits, not only in terms of health but as well as when it comes to practical reasons. Among these benefits are the following:

•    Rawfood diet is beneficial to overall health

1.    It reduces unhealthy fats in the body and risks of heart disease
2.    It reduces the occurrence of certain types of cancer like bladder cancer and oral cancer
3.    It also reduces occurrence of cold and flu
4.    It improves digestion due to the preservation of digestion-enhancing enzymes in raw foods
5.    It gives more energy—even if you eat only a small amount of food

•    Raw food diet is also proven to improve aesthetic physical aspects

1.    It’s proven to improve the health of the skin, making it look radiant
2.    It also makes a person look younger
3.    It is an ideal means for losing weight

•    Preparation of raw foods is easier and simpler, so it’s more practical

1.    raw foods do not require the complicated process of cooking, and they can be easily prepared with simple equipment like blender and juicer
2.    Cleaning up after meals is also easier when you go raw—no greasy residues or whatsoever
3.    Preparing raw foods do not require a lot of ingredients and utensils, so you can save more on your expenses

All these benefits are more than enough reasons to go raw in your diet. But, before you do so, before you jump into raw food consumption, you must know that there are also some risks with raw food diets. You must be aware of these so that you can counter their effects and get only the best benefits.

The Risks of Raw Food Diet

Raw food diet is no doubt an ideal eating pattern, but it also has some limitations and risks. For one, there are some foods whose nutrient contents are best absorbed when cooked. These foods include eggs as well as some vegetables like tomatoes. Aside from this limitation, there are two risks with an all-raw diet. These are the following:

1.    Food poisoning. First and foremost, most plant foods are exposed to chemicals like pesticides. Therefore, if you’re eating raw, be sure that you choose the food you eat. It’s also important that you thoroughly wash and clean the food before preparing it.

2.    Nutrient deficiency. Researches have shown that while raw food diet is rich in some nutrients like Vitamin A, it is lacking in other nutrients like Vitamin B12 and iron, calcium, and omega 3. Therefore, if you’re going into this kind of diet, you may need to take vitamin supplements.

By knowing all the benefits and risks of raw food diets, it would be easy for you to strike correct balance. This will ensure that you get only positive results and avoid the negative ones.

A Selection of Diets for a Natural Body Detox

Copyright (c) 2009 John Khu

There are so many diets nowadays that people are getting into. A lot of these diets focus on weight loss, but are you aware that there are diets out there that are tailor-fit for a full body detox? Yes, body detoxification involves living a healthy lifestyle and following a nutritious eating plan. To help you out, here are some of the popular types of diet that can help you in freeing your body from toxins.

Diuretic Diet

The first body detox diet is the Diuretic Diet. The aim of this diet is to help the body excrete fluids mainly through the urinary system. It can also reduce a certain amount of body fats. Food choices in this detox diet are melon, parsley, artichoke, celery, watercress, asparagus, dandelion, and juniper berries. Coffee and tea are very good diuretic beverages, just make sure that you choose the types that are good for the body.

Hallelujah Diet

Next is the Hallelujah Diet, which consists only of raw foods. People might see this body detox diet as a tremendous shift as far as eating habits are concerned, although there is an option to allow 15% of your food consumption to be cooked, which should only be taken at the last meal of the night. This diet does not have any breakfast in its eating plan, although you can opt to drink fresh vegetable juices as an alternative. You might find it hard to adapt to this diet, but you can do it gradually by replacing your breakfast with fresh salads of fruit and vegetables and milk.

Juiec Fast

The Juiec Fast is another type that is based on liquids. Basically, you can drink fruit juices and vegetable juices, or a mixture of both. This is not only helpful in your whole body detox quest, but it can also supply the body with the much needed amounts of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. The enzymes acquired are a great aid in the digestive processes of the body, where production of other digestive enzymes can be minimized.

Master Cleanse Diet

Another detox diet is the Master Cleanse Diet. Just like the previous diet, you have to drink a special concoction, which is a mixture of cayenne pepper, maple syrup, and lemon juice in a glass of water. You might be wondering what the sweet maple syrup is doing in the mixture, but don’t worry, it is proven to control toxins that were stored in the body as fats, thus transforming them into energy that can be used later on.

Mono Fruit Detox Diet

A body detox diet that thrives on eating only a single type of fruit is the Mono Fruit Detox Diet. This is done in order to stabilize the pH level of the body and maintain body sugars at healthy levels. The water from the fruit also flushes out the toxins and helps in cleansing the body cells. This diet is good for as long as you like.

Raw Food Detox Diet

Finally, the raw food detox Diet keeps the metabolism in good working condition and strengthens the immune system thanks to the intact vitamins and minerals of raw foods. Such nutrients are lost when food is cooked, and with this diet, the potassium-sodium ratio is put on a good level.

We’ll survey three of the most popular detox diets being promoted by holistic MD’s and other natural health professionals to give you an idea of how you might go about choosing a detox diet for yourself.

Vegetarian Detox Diet

Don’t be afraid of this detox diet! It can actually be one of the healthiest choices you’ll make in your life, and can keep you satisfied and engaged in your diet for a long time to come. That’s because the vegetarian detox diet plan involves eating lots of different types of foods that are filling, flavorful, and nutritious! You’ll be consuming a healthy dose of whole grains, beans and legumes, fruits and vegetables, and other beneficial, plant-based ingredients. The variety will astound you!

This type of diet is rich in all of the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals your body needs. And if you choose organic food options (which is highly recommended), you’ll be eating pure, whole foods that will provide true nutrition. And you may just lose weight while adopting healthy eating habits you’ll take with you for years to come. Add some digestive enzymes, antioxidants, and other supplements to really give this diet a detoxifying effect for your body.

Fruit Detox Diet

If you like fruit, you’ll love this. Composed of a wide variety of detoxing fruits, this Fruit Flush will have you enjoying the sweet produce options, like cherries, grapefruit, blueberries and blackberries, mango, pineapple, apples, kiwi, and more. Yum!

The fruit detox diet is extremely healthy for you, containing antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other essential requirements for a thorough, full body cleanse detox. Most of the fruit is eaten raw, and as with the vegetarian detox diet, this one can be accompanied by supplements. If this sounds good you might also be interested in juice fasting.

The Raw Food Detox Diet

Very popular with health fanatics, the raw food movement is taking the detox world by storm. This one emphasizes the consumption of raw, organic foods, including veggies and fruits, sprouted grains, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, as well as dried fruit-all prepared raw or with temperatures below 118º F. This preserves the live enzymes in the foods, which are beneficial for giving you a full body detox. Once again, supplementation will give your detox an added boost.

A Closer Look At Raw Food Diets

Raw food diets have been around since the 1900s. Over the years, they have evolved into a large movement with many advocates, supporters, and followers. And at present, these types of diet are already among the most popular eating patterns among those who are into weight loss and health improvement programs.

What is Raw Food Diet?

As its name implies, raw food diet revolves around the intake of raw and fresh food. Raw foodists, the people who follow the raw food eating pattern, believe that natural produce are the best foods because their nutrients are still intact. Meanwhile, cooked or heated foods are avoided because their nutritional content is usually lost during the preparation process. Raw foodists believe that exposing food to temperature above 116 degrees Fahrenheit dissolves their nutrient content and also reduces their enzymes, which is an important component that aids in the digestive process.

The Advocates of Raw Food Diet

At present, the raw food movement has already grown and has already attracted a lot of people. In fact, there are already different books advocating the raw food way of eating. Among the people who greatly contributed to this movement are:

•    David Wolfe. Wolfe is one of the biggest advocates of raw food diet, plus eco-friendly and green living. He is a nutritionist that has authored such books as Naked Chocolate and Eating for Beauty. He is also a popular success speaker and is the originator of Sunfood Nutrition, the first company that offers and distributes natural and organic products like cacao and goji berries.
•    Aajonus Vonderplanitz. Vonderplanitz has also contributed a lot to the rawfood diet movement. In fact, he has been into a raw food diet for almost four decades now. He is the president of the group named “Right To Choose Real Food” and he created one variation of the raw food diet, called the primal diet. This diet involves more on raw meat and less on fresh fruits and vegetable, plus honey and dairy products.

These two personalities are among the prominent figures in the raw food diet movement. Others include Hollywood celebrities like Mel Gibson, Demi Moore, and Uma Thurman.

Forms of Raw Food Diets

Raw food diet can be classified into two, although these two types are often overlapping and are actually best combined.

•    Raw Vegetarianism. This type of raw food diet focuses on fresh plant-based foods like fruits and vegetables, seeds, beans, nuts, seaweed, and legumes. These foods can be prepared by juicing, drying, and dehydrating, among others.
•    Raw Animal Diet. This type of raw food diet covers raw sea foods and meat. Vonderplanitz’ primal diet is a very good example that falls under this category. Among the processes that can be used to prepare these foods are curing and smoking, although some raw foodists do not adhere to the last process because it still involves heat.

Going for raw food diets is easy and simple. These diets offer a lot of health benefits, as well as practicality when it comes to food preparation. Although it may be a challenge at first, the benefits are all worth it.

Raw Food Diets in Dogs and Cats

Copyright (c) 2008 Pet naturally healthy. com

systems in animals are accustomed to raw foods and use them effectively to maintain good health and well-being. In this way, wild animals live longer and healthier. However, in our homes, we tend to give our dogs and cats from cooked or processed foods bought in supermarkets. They may affect their natural vitality and immune systems and make our pets prone to infections, allergies and other diseases. Raw foods for dogs and cats are generally advantageous tender in terms of nutritional support they provide the body, promoting immune system and make it strong enough to fight disease.

Studies have shown that commercially processed foods lack many essential nutrients, which can make a dog extremely hypersensitive and susceptible to allergies. In addition, consumption of too much grain that processed foods contain can be harmful to the dog’s teeth. In a special study of 900 cats over 10 years, it was found that the rate of degeneration was higher in cats that have not been fed raw foods that cats fed raw food. Cats fed on two thirds of raw meat and raw milk diets with third little oil cod liver were found to be better than cats that had processed foods of the same calorific value. The study also showed that cats fed cooked food are most at risk of heart problems, thyroid complications, vision problems, infections, kidney, liver, testicles and bladder, even paralysis and meningitis. Irritation and sexual dissatisfaction were also some signs that cats fed cooked food displayed.

Many owners are afraid to put their dogs and cats on raw food from the fear of contracting infections by the pets against parasites, salmonella and harmful bacteria that raw foods may contain. However, such thoughts are rather misplaced, as dogs and cats have short digestive tract with a strong acid medium, which “kills” these pests and prevent their proliferation in the body. Owners can also add the fulvic acid in raw food for dogs and cats, this is an excellent acid neutralizer of toxins and can significantly reduce the risk of food poisoning.

Raw food for dogs and cats may have more choice and may include raw meat such as chicken, pork feet, beef heart, raw vegetables, including vegetable sea, raw eggs, chia seeds, oil, coconut, raw garlic, land or pureed raw carrots and Greens and other nutrients. Source bones in meat are excellent dietary calcium than dogs and cats need plenty of good health and vitality.
